Just living
is not enough...
one must have
sunshine, freedom,
and
a little flower.

Other activities in which the Friends participate:
-
Fauna Watch, organised by Wildlife Queensland, which meets monthly in the Gardens (8 am, second Wednesday) to identify, count, and record birds, butterflies, koalas and any other fauna.
-
Botanical art, illustration and drawing - meeting monthly for lessons and practice.
-
Educational and research opportunities with both the University of the Sunshine Coast and schools.
What the Friends expect from volunteers
-
The safety and welfare of all volunteers are of paramount importance. Before undertaking any of the activities of the Friends in the Gardens, each volunteer must undertake safety induction, conducted by the Council.
-
Council provides high-visibility shirts, hats, gloves, insect repellent and sunscreen lotion, and expects that volunteers wear appropriate footwear and clothing.
Want to become a volunteer in the gardens?
-
Come along, introduce yourself at a Tuesday work day in the Gardens, and see us at work. Make sure you're in time for the very social morning tea break around 9:30am. Note: You cannot join in the work until you become a financial member ($20 p.a.) of the Friends (so you are covered by our insurance), and complete the Sunshine Coast Council Volunteers Induction Briefing, scheduled for the second Thursday in each month.
