                Never doubt

that a small group of          thoughtful,                  dedicated                citizens can

change the world: indeed, it is the only

    thing that ever has.

'The Making of a Botanic Garden'

Photographic Exhibition
Celebrating 20 years

Logo.jpg

It's 20 years since the opening of the Botanic Gardens on 1 December 2001.

This beautiful place has not always looked the way it does today. Some of our best known and iconic garden areas have changed over time.

The Friends of MRBBG would love to reveal to you how the transition has been achieved over a 25 year realisation period through the collaboration between the community, the Council, and the Friends of the Gardens.

Photographic Exhibition

2015 Working Friends.jpg

The Friends are the community ‘backbone’ of this unique and amazing botanic garden that combines managed gardens with natural bushland, art with ecology, and plants with pleasure.  We'd love you to join us in our mission to care for this beautiful place.

Come along and meet us in the Arts and Ecology Centre during the exhibition.

Opening Wed, 1st Dec, 2021, an exhibition will be held at the Arts and Ecology Building to show the breadth of the vision required for the Botanic Gardens to go from a former timber getting area, then cattle and crop farm, to what it is now - a place for everyone to be surrounded by some of our region's unique flora and fauna on display throughout both natural bushland and manicured garden settings.

Prepare to be amazed!
