Whipbird Walk - Not just for Kids |
The Whipbird walk is a short (several hundred metres) looping trail beginning at the eastern lawns area, and gently climbing part way up the Syncarpia ridge, passing through sclerophyll forest. Along the way there are things for children to find - metal sculptures of spiders, butterflies, a stick insect, a goanna etc. Signs point to interesting objects - a giant birds nest (brush turkey) for example. There is also a small performance area, just the place to recite your favourite bush poem or story. All this is to encourage children to look carefully at their surroundings, be surprised at what they find, and respond to it in a positive way. A special place for all the family to enjoy. |
