 The Friends of Maroochy Regional Botanic Gardens Inc. is a volunteer organisation that was formed to support the establishment, growth and development of the Maroochy Botanic Gardens.

The most obvious work done by the Friends is the work done in the gardens - planting, weeding, pruning, watering, mulching and otherwise caring for the wide variety of flora there. The Friends also do much of the work required to maintain and develop the visitor facilities, by building pathways and tracks around the gardens, and keeping them tidy, making picnic tables, and otherwise providing and maintaining facilities that make the gardens a pleasure to visit. The Friends also has a group of very well trained and knowledgeable guides who take groups of visitors around the gardens.

'Behind the scenes' the Friends are very active (in cooperation with the Sunshine Coast Regional Council) in planning new developments and seeking government grants and other sources of funding to bring those plans to fruition.

Annual Membership costs are as follows:

Individual or First in family........…………… $20.00

Second member in same family……………… + $5.00

Additional members from same family .... No charge

Business/organization ... $30.00

If you would like a copy of the minutes of each monthly meeting posted to you, we need to charge you an extra $10.00 per annum.

Public Liability Insurance Cover
Friends of the Maroochy Regional Bushland Botanic Gardens Inc. has Public Liability Insurance cover with The Garden Clubs of Australia for $20million.  Members working in the Gardens are also covered under the Sunshine Coast Regional Council’s Public Liability Policy for $30 million. However you must be a financial member of the Friends to be covered by this insurance.
 

 

 

If we are a bit slack in contacting you back, just come along and introduce yourself at our next work day in the gardens. There are no work days over the Christmas period but they resume on the 2nd Tuesday in January. Work days are held on Tuesdays - but make sure you are in time for the very social morning tea break around 9:30am.
